Driver in Stamford Rampage Heads to Court

Christopher Simonelli, 30, of Lafayette Street, Stamford, the driver of the box truck who police say went on a rampage in an accident Nov. 16 in which 14 vehicles were damaged and 22 people were injured, will be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court at 2 p.m. Thursday.

The multivehicle accident began at 2:22 p.m. at 11 Elm Court and ended on East Main Street. A Stamford school bus with 23 students onboard was among the vehicles involved in the accident. A total of 17 students were taken to Stamford Hospital to be treated and released for minor injuries.

Simonelli was also taken to Stamford Hospital that day in serious condition after smashing into many cars and then crashing the truck.
