  • Three people escaped with their lives after a post-midnight fire raced through their North Stamford home at 25 Bittersweet Lane, totally destroying the three-story structure. 
  • Desmond Hague has resigned as CEO of Stamford-based Centerplate amid allegations of animal abuse after he was spotted kicking and mistreating a 1-year-old dog in a Canadian hotel elevator in a surveillance video.
  • Rodney Green, 32, of 89 Richmond Hill Ave., who was spotting performing perfect push-ups in the nude in a city intersection, had to be subdued with an electric shot from a Taser after he refused to comply with officer's demands. He was arrested on breach of peace charges.
  • Douglas Deluca, a 49-year-old Stamford man, threatened to kill his sister, pushed her and placed his hands around her neck during a dispute at his home on Labor Day. He was arrested on multiple charges. 
  • Stamford police officers arrested Elton Perry, 20, of 35 Judson St., Bridgeport, as he rolled into a McDonald's restaurant parking lot on charges of transporting heroin.
  • Stamford officers seized cocaine with a street value of about $7,500 and arrested Christian Ovalle-Perez, 38, of 44 Taff Ave., who they suspected was on his way to make a drug deal.
  • Stamford finalized the purchase of the 10-acre former campus of Sacred Heart Academy for $9.75 million. 
  • The city launched the Stamford Street Smart initiative in response to three pedestrians fatalities in 2014. Two days later, police charged the driver in one of the fatal accidents with vehicular homicide.
