Daily News Reports Suicide Attempt by Mom in Fire

STAMFORD, Conn. — Madonna Badger, whose three children and parents died in the Christmas Day Fire in Stamford, attempted suicide, the New York Daily News quoted a relative as saying. The full article can be found here.

The initial investigation showed that the deadly blaze started because embers from the fireplace were put into a bag and left in the rear of the house. Stamford police are still investigating to answer several questions that were left unanswered in the fire marshals' search, including whether working smoke detectors were in the house.

Badger and boyfriend Michael Borcina were the only two able to make it out of her Shippan Avenue home during the fire.
