Dad's Irate Texting Leads to Arrests

A father's furious text message to his wayward son led to the dad's arrest Wednesday evening, according to Stamford police. The 44-year-old Carroll Street resident, father of a 15-year-old boy, threatened the teen with mortal harm after the teen abruptly left the family home.

The teen was supposed to have been at home caring for his mom, who recently had surgery. However, the teen had been out earlier in the evening, returned home briefly, and was about to leave again when the mom tried to restrain him by brandishing a paint stirrer. The teen left the home, and the mom called her husband, who apparently was at work but left to look for the teen. The dad was angry and concerned he might lose his job, and that's when he sent the threatening text, according to police.

The father was charged with disorderly conduct, or threatening. The mother was charged with breach of peace, threatening, because she threatened her son with a paint stirrer. Both parents were scheduled to appear in court today.
