City Pauses to Observe Thanksgiving

Most businesses and government operations are closed Thursday in observance of Thanksgiving. 

The Stamford Government Center is closed Thursday as well as Friday. Municipal offices will reopen Monday and resume regular hours. 

Garbage collection is halted Thursday. The Thursday pickup will occur Friday, and Friday’s regular pickup will occur Saturday, Nov. 27. 

The same holds for recycling. There will be no recycling pickup Thursday, as both recycling centers are closed. Thursday’s recycling pickup will take place Friday, and Friday’s regular pickup will occur instead Saturday, Nov. 27. 

Schools are closed for holiday recess both Thursday and Friday. They’ll reopen Monday
