Church Encourages Kids' Joy of Giving

Members of North Stamford Congregational Church are hosting an event this week that reminds parents that kids like to give as well as receive.

The church will hold a daylong Secret Santa holiday celebration Saturday where children will be invited to choose from affordable gifts costing $1 to $5 to give to mom, dad, grandma or grandpa. "Elves" will be on hand to help youngsters make their selections and to assist with decorating the wrapping paper or gift bag – whatever the child prefers – for their gifts. Santa is expected to visit as well.

Billed as an Old Fashioned Country Christmas, the festive day also will include a kids-only storybook corner with a rug and pillows, skill games, a soup bar, home-baked goods, seasonal gifts for adults, and performances by the young dancers of the New Attitude Dance Academy at noon and 2 p.m.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church's Stone House, 31 Cascade Road, Stamford. Admission is free, and free coffee, punch and cookies will be available. For more information, contact the church at (203) 322-1255.
