The proposed 15 percent bus fare increase would take effect on or after Jan. 5 if approved, DOT said. The proposed new bus fares would affect local bus systems serving the areas of Hartford, New Haven, Stamford, Waterbury, New Britain, Meriden, Bristol and Wallingford. CTTransit buses have routes that run in Greenwich, Stamford, Darien and Norwalk as well as to Port Chester, N.Y.
The increase would impact all fares. The base fair would increase from $1.30 to $1.50 while senior and disabled fare would jump from 65 cents to 75 cents.
The meeting will be in the General Conference Room, which is located at UConn at 1 University Place in Stamford. DOT has held meetings in other parts of the state.
Comments on the proposed increase can also be emailed to dot.farecomments@ct.gov.
