It's large, it's grand, it's just plain big. The "Big Flea," North Stamford Congregational Church's annual flea market, is on Friday and Saturday at The Stone House, 31 Cascade Road.
The indoor flea market is a major annual fundraiser, benefiting the church and outreach programs it sponsors. This year the church will donate a portion of the proceeds to St. Luke's LifeWorks, a Stamford nonprofit that offers support services to people in lower Fairfield County overcoming homelessness.
The flea market is always a huge event with loads of items, say organizers. Offerings include furniture, electronics, jewelry, small appliances, tools and kids items such as dolls, toys and strollers. There also are antiques, collectibles and artwork, making the event an adventure for possible discovery of a rare find. An ice cream truck will be in the parking lot, and an arts and crafts section will be set up for children.
There is no general admission. However, anyone wishing to view items in advance, before doors open to the general public, may do so Friday at 8 a.m. for a $15 early admission fee. Doors open to the general public (free admission) at 9 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. Saturday hours also are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and admission remains free. The flea market will be held rain or shine.
