Arthur Henry Hank Ober Jr., who grew up in Darien and was a state gymnastics champion at age 16, died April 1 at Danbury Hospital. He was 56 years old.
Ober lived in group homes in the Danbury area for the past 40 years. Family members described Ober as a sweet, kind and gentle man.
He is survived by his twin sisters, Susan and Nancy Ober; his brother-in-law, George Bundock; his stepfather, Walter McMaster, his step-fathers companion, Maris Cappello; a step-grandmother, several aunts and a cousin.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 680 Racebrook Road, Orange.
