Anne Doyle Pantas, Former Athlete

STAMFORD, Conn. — Anne Doyle Pantas of Stamford died on Friday, July 15, at Regency Heights. She was 95 years old.

Pantas was born Aug. 4, 1915, in Darien. After graduating from the Merrill Business School in Stamford she worked as a secretary and administrator in the Personal Trust Division for Guaranty Trust Co.  She later spent 20 years working as a secretary for Harry Bennett, president of Harry Bennett & Associates Realty.

She was always involved in sports with her church, St. John’s in Darien. She played basketball and captained the bowling team in the second division of the Stamford Women’s Bowling League. Pantas also served as recording secretary for 12 years for the Springdale Senior Club.

Pantas is survived by a brother, James Doyle, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Pantas; two sisters, Nora Millette and Mary Nolan; and two brothers, John Doyle and Michael Doyle.

There will be no calling hours, and a graveside service will be private. The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home Crematory assisted with arrangements.
