A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Ann Martino, a former secretary at Stamford's Springdale Elementary School, earlier this month. Martino died Dec. 7 at Stamford Hospital. She was 79.
Martino was born Aug. 9, 1931, in Stamford. In addition to her work as a longtime employee at Springdale School, she co-owned Springdale Laundry from 1963 to 1981.
The grandmother of six was married to husband Theodore for 55 years. He survives her, along with daughter Mary Ann and husband Mike Matheny of South Carolina; sons Gene and wife Cora Martino of Stamford and Ken and wife Enza Martino; brother Donald Zaccagnino of Stamford; sister Louise and husband Pompi of Milford; and her grandchildren. Martino was predeceased by a brother, Vincent Zaccagnino; and two sisters, Rose Santangelo and Beatrice Caravello. Martino was buried in St. John's Cemetery in Darien.
