Alphonse DiNapoli, WWII Veteran

A Mass was celebrated Monday for Stamford resident Alphonse DiNapoli, a retired plant superintendent for the FAG Bearings Company. He died Nov. 24 at Rosenthal Hospice Residence with family members around him. He was 83 years old. DiNapoli was born March 15, 1927. He graduated from Stamford High School in 1944 and entered military service as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He and Marie Gesullo, his high school sweetheart, married in 1948. They had four children, whom they raised in the house the couple built on Stamford’s MacGregor Drive. DiNapoli spent four decades working at FAG Bearings. He owned and operated a Dairy Queen for 25 years, which gave him the opportunity to work with family members. He also owned a West Side floral shop and  supplied arrangements for private affairs. He and Marie spent many evenings ballroom dancing. He enjoyed playing golf with his son Rocco and brother Pat. One of his favorite traditions was holiday decorating.

In addition to his wife, to whom he was married 62 years, survivors include four children, Rocco DiNapoli, Michael  DiNapoli Sr. and his wife, Diane, Maria Camomilli and her fiancé, Theodore Ogonek, and Alphonse DiNapoli Jr. and his wife, Cindy; six grandchildren; two sisters; his brother; and many nieces and nephews.
