4 Stamford Men Charged With Firearm Violations

STAMFORD, Conn. — Four Stamford men were charged with possession of a firearm after plainclothes narcotic officers found a .22 caliber handgun the suspects allegedly tossed from their car Friday night, Stamford Police Lt. Tim Shaw said.

The officers spotted the men in a white BMW with heavily tinted windows driving erratically in the parking lot of Cove Island Park, Shaw said. The officers attempted to pull the vehicle over on Dora Street when the suspects pulled over and threw the gun out of the window, according to Shaw. They then drove about a half-mile, speeding and going through stop signs before being stopped, he said.

The gun was found after the suspects were apprehended, the lieutenant said. None of the suspects claimed the weapon.

The driver of the vehicle, Ian Zachary Evans, 19, of 36 Jordan Lane, Stamford, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, conspiracy to commit possession of a firearm, illegal possession of a weapon inside a vehicle, conspiracy to commit illegal possession of a weapon inside a vehicle, engaging police in a pursuit, interference with an officer, and violation of tinted auto glass requirements, police said.

Deshawn Hayes, 20, of 87 Givens Ave., Stamford, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, illegal possession of a weapon inside a motor vehicle, and two conspiracy charges for those crimes, police said.

The other two passengers, Saquail Glover and Morris Moore, both 20, of Stamford, were charged with illegal carrying of a pistol without a permit, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, and conspiracy to commit both crimes, police said.
