Yeshiva Maccabeats To Perform in Stamford

Congregation Agudath Sholom will welcome Internet sensations, the Yeshiva University Maccabeats, for a luncheon Shabbat concert from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21. The singers will also help the congregation celebrate Kabbalat Shabbat on Friday, May 20, at 5:45 p.m. and services on Shabbat morning beginning at 9 a.m.

The a cappella group formed in 2007 when a few Yeshiva students learned that many other Jewish college campuses had singing groups. The Maccabeats have stayed committed to their philosophy of Torah u-Madda, the integration of traditional and secular wisdom, and perfrom an array of Jewish, Israeli and American songs.

The Maccabeats released its first album, "Voices from the Heights," in March 2010. More recently, it has seen success with its Hanukah theme “Candlelight,” which was released in November, is performed to the tune of Taio Cruz’ “Dynamite” and has more than 4 million YouTube views.

For more information, contact Joanna Bell at jbell@agudathsholom.org. To purchase tickets for the concert, call 203-358-2200 or visit Congregation Agudath Sholom’s website.
