Sylvester Dzamba, 91, Lifelong Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. – Lifelong Stamford resident Sylvester "Cy" Dzamba died May 26 at his home. He was 91.

Born May 14, 1921, in Stamford, he was the son of Andrew and Anna Madzula Dzamba. He enlisted in the Navy after graduating from Stamford High School and served in both World War II and the Korean War. 

After his discharge from the military, Dzamba began a career as a mechanic with the Hartford Electric Light Company. He was later promoted to foreman and worked with the company for 35 years.  

He is survived by two sons, Thomas S. Dzamba, of Wells, Minn., and Andrew P. Dzamba, of Garden City, N.Y.; a daughter, Barbara H. Fickett, of Stamford; and five grandchildren. Dzamba was predeceased by his wife, Helen Lukaniec Dzamba, in 1994; a brother, Stephen Dzamba; and three sisters, Olga Schueler, Martha Howard and Anne Dzamba.

A graveside service will be held at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Bosak Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
