As a 2014 Neighborhood Builder, Inspirica will receive $200,000 in flexible funding as well as leadership training for the nonprofit organization’s executives.

“We’re honored and privileged to be recognized by Bank of America as a Neighborhood Builder,” said Inspirica CEO Jason Shaplen in a press release.

“The generous grant and the opportunity to participate in the Neighborhood Builders Leadership Program will allow us to continue to design and implement innovative ways to break the cycle of homelessness and achieve even greater impact in our community.”

Inspirica provides housing for 270 homeless people every night and serves about 700 people each year through its other programs, which include case management, children’s services, counseling, education, and employment services.

“We’ve heard from past Neighborhood Builders that the combination of unrestricted funding and leadership training has fundamentally changed their organizations,” said Bill Tommins, southern Connecticut market president for Bank of America, in a press release.

“We expect the same to be true for Inspirica, which has already done so much to alleviate homelessness in Connecticut.”
