Stamford Volunteers Help Those With Special Needs

STAMFORD, Conn. ? Landscaping, re-routing drainage pipes, installing railings and applying wainscoting are not typical jobs done by employees of Stamford-based Synapse Group.

However, on Thursday, May 10, about 60 employees of the marketing firm did just that to help revitalize the Newfield Avenue property of Always Reaching for Independence, a press release said. The day of service was part of HomeFront program.

“It would have taken many days and many dollars for us to address these needs without them,” Gerard Gasparino, manager of development and recreation for Always Reaching for Independence (ARI), said in the release. ARI helps people with developmental disabilities.

Synapse and GE Capital Aviation Services both took part in their 25th annual HomeFront Season this spring, the release said. The group from GE Capital Aviation Services improved the home of an elderly low-income couple, the release said.

Overall, HomeFront had 3,000 volunteers from Connecticut and Westchester County participate in this year’s program at 76 locations.
