Stamford Teens Give Basketball a Shot

Jamere Brutus, Ryan Gibb and Nygel Belizaire, who are on spring break this week from the Stamford Public Schools, decided to hit Belltown Park and play basketball Tuesday despite the on-again, off-again rain.

The 15-year-olds said the rain wouldn't stop them from getting a chance to play on a free afternoon. “No we are real 'Ballers,’” Jamere said.

The three were the only people at the park so they had to play “21.” The half-court game allows players to compete against each when there are not enough players for a full game. Each player tries to score 21 points before their opponents to win.
