"Dad loved decorating and mom loved cooking," Adele Ursone said in a release. "It was a perfect combination."
Adele Ursone, a painter, and her husband, George “Geo” Mattesson recently released their non-fictional picture book, “The Christmas Tugboat: How the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Came to New York City,” which shares how their family once transported the tree.
The book tells the story of their daughter who was behind the wheel of the tugboat hauling the tree into New York Harbor surrounded by passing tourists, police and fire boats and helicopters, the release said. It was watching her, Emily, react to everything that ignited the idea of writing a book.
"It all seems so long ago now but when Geo got the job to tow the Rockefeller Christmas tree, Emily was in kindergarten and we thought what a perfect job to take her along on," she said in the release of the event, which took place about 10 years ago.
Lou Ursone, executive producer of Curtain Call, wrote the play “A Merry Mulberry Street Musical,” which is in its third run at the Kweskin Theatre beginning Thursday. Ursone based the play around the romantic comedy "Mulberry Street," written by his friend and mentor Albert Pia. He began writing it in 2002 and it first hit the Curtain Call stage in 2009.
"'The Mulberry Street' characters had been a part of my life for as long as I can remember," he said in the release.
