STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford’s William Brucker finished his first marathon in just more than 3 hours and 40 minutes and in the process raised more than $2,000 for Family Centers.

The $2,250 he collected will go to assisting the many human service, health and counseling programs that the agency runs in the area, a press release said. Brucker works for the Greenwich-based Family Centers as its communications director.

As for the marathon, his 3:41:56 time placed him 496 of 2,371 runners who participated in the New Jersey Marathon, the release said. The course began at Monmouth Park Racetrack and took participants through several oceanfront towns.
