The list includes Hispanics from all backgrounds and careers who have made a positive impact in the community.

“The 50 Most Influential List’ has become a tradition that recognizes the members of our community who go beyond their duties and responsibilities to help develop a better society,” said Héctor Bauzá, owner and chief executive officer of the multicultural advertising agency Bauzá & Associates and fellow Lupian.

“This award is a motivation for me to keep serving our students, families, and our entire community with passion and commitment,” said Pazmino. “I feel very blessed to have encountered so many students and families who taught me to be sensitive, appreciate, and validate their culture. Helping students and families achieve their dreams has helped me achieve mine.”

Those recognized are nominated by their peers, during LUPA’s call for nominations in mid-November. The organization seeks nominees who have a track record of selflessly working to benefit the Latino Community in Connecticut, as well as those with stories that may inspire others to advance their own careers and make an impact in communities as well.

Pazmino was nominated by Mike Meyer, executive director of the Stamford schools' Support Services and Special Programs.

“Juan exemplifies what we need from all community leaders,” said Meyer. “He has been an advocate to students, a support to families, and a resource to our schools for the past eight years. Juan’s keen understanding of our Latino students and his ‘can do’ attitude are reflected in all he does, especially in the success of our ALTA program.”

According to LUPA, the “50 Most Influential Latinos,” list was first released in 2012. It has since become one of the greatest honors among the Latino Community, serving as a source of statewide recognition for the positive contributions of Hispanics in their communities.
