The soon-to-be-bald participants have been collecting donations to support charitable efforts and show solidarity with young victims of childhood cancer. All donations go to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, www.StBaldricks.org, a national organization that funds the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancer.

The Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association has been working on behalf of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation since 2011. To date, the Stamford Fire Fighters team has raised more than $50,000 for the worthy cause.

“Our firefighters are passionate about serving and giving back to the community, even if it means going hairless to prove their point. For multiple years now, we have worked with St. Baldrick’s Foundation in the hope and belief that one day no child will have to suffer from cancer. Since the first year, we’ve had 46 of our firefighters shave their heads in support of children who battle this terrible disease,” said Brendan Keatley, president of the Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association.
