Stamford Pets Get a Holistic Food Option

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Dogs and cats looking to get their beach bodies before the end of the summer will be happy to hear that Global Pet Foods has opened in Stamford. Global’s naturally made selections are different than the pet foods found in local grocery stores, owner Elliot Sasson said.

“The food you find in grocery stores is just the opposite,” he said. Global foods are made from natural products grown in the U.S. or Canada, whereas other pet foods are filled with bio-products, Sasson said.

In addition, Sasson says Global’s staff is very knowledgeable. Though they are not veterinarian’s and cannot prescribe medications, staff members can help pet owners find foods that will help with preexisting conditions such as obesity and joint pain.

The official grand opening for Global’s outlet in the Newfield Green Shopping Center is Saturday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a raffle, pet gift bags and a grand opening special 10 percent discount, the release said.

The Stamford store is Global’s second in Connecticut. The first opened in Darien’s Goodwives Shopping Center in May.

Global is the largest chain of pet food stores specializing in natural, holistic and organic foods and supplements, with about 140 stores in North America, a press release said.
