STAMFORD, Conn. — Government Center was bustling with people bandying around terms such as "bullying" and "community action." 

The topic of the latest "Community Conversation Cafewas creating a school environment that is physically, emotionally, and intellectually safe. Candace Burke, chair of the bullying committee, presented an action plan Monday to help families understand and eliminate school bullying.

Burke said her team hopes to work "to institute and implement prevention and intervention bullying programs districtwide in order to insure a more cohesive community. We will research successful initiatives, survey students, search for funding sources and eventually bring in speakers and develop an anti-bullying program for the Stamford schools." Looking for some delicious, filling and charitable upcoming activities. The North Stamford Lions Club is holding a pancake breakfast this Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Belltown Firehouse on Belden Road. The cost is $5 per person and kids under 5 eat free. Seconds are encouraged.

The women of St. John's Lutheran Church are hosting a pancake and sausage brunch on Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 884 Newfield Avenue. The cost for this event is $6 per person, $20 for a family of 4 ($5 each additional person), children under age 2 are free.

After eating you can visit The Lutheran World Relief Fair Trade Handcraft Project where fair trade items such foods, handcrafts and pottery, will be sold to support the lives of artisans around the world. For information, visit www.stjohnelca.org or call 203-322-0066.
