Join the Stamford Museum & Nature Center on Aug. 9 for National S'mores Day. Kids and their parents and guardians are invited to the Nature Center meadow to roast marshmallows and build s'mores around a campfire from 4 to 5 p.m.

The museum will host "Night Is Nice" in the planetarium on Aug. 11 from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. This show, recommended for children ages 5 and up, will delve into the world of nocturnal animals and discover the evening chorus of frogs, owls and insects and hear the stories of the animals found in the evening stars.

Kids can come discover what it takes to be a farmer on Heckscher Farm on Mondays and Wednesdays through Aug. 14.

Farm staff each week will pick an activity to show the diversity of farm life and how we care for our animals and the environment. The farm will be conducting hands-on programs for all ages. Activities will include milking, grooming, caring for baby animals, and more and will last 30 to 45 minutes.

The Nature Center holds an "after-hours" picnic every Wednesday through Aug. 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. Ice cream and snacks will be for sale to enjoy on the trails of the Nature Center.

Kids are invited to look at the stars every Friday night, weather permitting, at 8:30 p.m. through the Nature Center's 22-inch telescope at the observatory.

The Nature Center is also displaying eight new baby Guinea Hogs born recently. Come see moms Lulu and Pippa with their eight piglets.
