Bassett hopes to raise $5,000 for Norwalk's Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
Multiple myeloma is the second most common form of blood cancer and, sadly, has one of the lowest five-year relative survival rates of all cancers.
Bassett is a Clinical Operations Manager at the Multiple Myeloma Research Consortium, which is part of MMRF.
It was through his professional involvement that he learned of the Mt. Fuji trip as part of the Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma program where myeloma patients, caregivers, researchers and program sponsors would climb some of the world's tallest peaks to increase awareness and funds for research.
The Mt. Fuji climb will take place July 18-20. Click here to donate to Bassett's cause.
