Stamford Kids Spin Their Wheels in the Park

Stamford kids like Michael Edwards, Chris Ramos and William Tenoria will be riding and gliding on their bikes and boards down at Scalzi Skatepark next week – that is, if the nice weather holds. “We only go when it is nice out,” William says. When it’s cold, he says, it hurts a lot more when you fall.

The “chill spot,” as Chris called it, is a magnet for kids in the spring, and in the summer when there is no school. And with Stamford Public Schools on break this week, the skate park should be buzzing.

There’s no direct supervision, but the kids have their own rules: take turns and allow everyone to use the park.

Designed by Grindline Skate Parks, the facility was built in 2007 after skaters and their parents pushed for one at town meetings.

How are your kids spending their spring break? Share their plans below or send them to reporter Anthony Buzzeo at tbuzzeo@mainstreetconnect.us
