Stamford Gets Set to Paint the Town Pink

STAMFORD, Conn. – Atlantic Street turns pink Saturday, Oct. 1, as Stamford kicks off its seventh annual “Paint the Town Pink” campaign. A mile of pink will be created at Veterans Park.

“Every year the outpouring of community support for breast cancer survivors and awareness grows and grows, which is very touching,” Liz Manfredo, director of Cancer Services at Stamford Hospital's Bennett Cancer Center, said in a news release. “We are looking forward to seeing everyone again this year at all of the wonderful activities we have planned.”

Speakers this year are Mayor Michael Pavia and WABC-TV Meteorologist Bill Evans. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Tully Health Center and Darien Imaging Center will hold extra time slots for screening mammograms from Oct. 10 through Nov. 25. Screenings at Tully Health Center will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Imaging Center will do testing from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Paint the Town Pink T-shirts can be purchased for $10 at the Bennett Cancer Center, Darien Imaging Center, New Wave Seafood and the Women’s Breast Center at the Tully Health Center.
