STAMFORD, Conn. Stamford based AmeriCares will honor actress and activist Shabana Azmi at a fundraiser in New York City on March 22 at A Celebration of Indian Art & Humanity. The event will support the organizations efforts in India.
Azmi has been involved with AmeriCares since 1993 after an earthquake, and she helped deliver supplies to Latur and Osmanabad.
The event will take place at Aicon Gallery, 35 Great Jones St., New York City. In addition to honoring Azmi, Indian Art will be auctioned. Aasif Mandvi of Comedy Centrals The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will serve as celebrity auctioneer.
