Peter Mancusi, 84, Lifelong Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. – Peter J. Mancusi, a lifelong Stamford resident, died April 28 at Stamford Hospital, with his daughter, Barbarajean, at his side. He was 84. 

He was born Sept. 16, 1927, to Anthony and Caroline Festa Mancusi. He worked at the paint shop for Pitney Bowes for many years before becoming a manager and union representative. Married to Nancy Perella Mancusi, he supported several charities dedicated to researching causes and cures of childhood disorders.  

Described by his eldest grandchild as "quietly adoring," Mancusi made each of his 12 grandchildren feel unique. A lifelong champion of the working family, he loved to debate his liberal views. Mancusi was also known as a sports enthusiast, avid reader and practicing Catholic.  

Mancusi is survived by a sister, Carolyn Torre and her husband Andrew "Buddy" Torre; two sons, Peter J. Mancusi Jr. and wife Miranda Daniloff of Brookline, Mass., and Michael A. Mancusi and wife Darcy of Bridgewater, Mass.; two daughters, Barbarajean Segall and husband Maurice "Mo" Segall, of Wilton and Donna Mancusi, of Cambridge, Mass.; and 12 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Mancusi. 

Friends may call at Lacerenza Funeral Home in Stamford from 4-7 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church in Stamford. Burial will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford.
