Lorraine Romano, 72, Lifelong Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. – Lorraine Caputo Romano, a lifelong resident of Stamford, died May 21 at Stamford Hospital, surrounded by family. She was 72.

She was born Nov. 27, 1939, in Stamford to Angelo and Josephine Belmont Caputo. She graduated from Stamford High School and married Richard Romano. She was a retired accounting supervisor for the Dress Barn in Suffern, N.Y. Romano enjoyed cooking and baking, especially lemon meringue pies and cream puffs. 

Her husband died on Aug. 5, 1998.

Romano is survived by four sisters, Marie Taylor, of Trumbull, Gloria Caputo, of Stamford, Rose Caputo, of Stamford and Carole (Richard) Del Vecchio, of Stamford; a brother, Antonio "Tony" (Irene) Caputo, of Clearwater, Fla.; several nieces and nephews and two stepchildren. 

Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Bosak Funeral Home. A prayer service will follow at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Peter Dora. Burial will take place at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford.
