Laurel House In Stamford Hosts Derby Day Dinner Dance

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Laurel House of Stamford will celebrate the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 4, with a Derby Day Dinner Dance. The evening begins with live action TV coverage from Louisville followed with games, silent auction, dinner and dancing.

The 2013 benefit will honor longtime board director Michael R. Parker as Laurel House’s first Champion for Recovery. Parker’s nearly two decades of service to Laurel House will be acknowledged during a brief ceremony at the gala.  

Parker is president of Parker Global Strategies. He has been active with area nonprofit organizations for many years and has been a board member and twice chairman of the board at Laurel House. He also serves on the Executive Council at AmeriCares and is a member of the Board of Visitors of the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University.

Laurel House provides resources to recovery for people with mental illnesses and their families in and around Connecticut.

Co-Chairs for Derby Day are Cheryl Palmer, a member of the Board of Directors, and Rey Giallongo, Chairman and CEO of First County Bank.
