John Loffredo Sr., 90, Stamford Pigeon Club Member

STAMFORD, Conn. – John T. Loffredo Sr., a lifelong Stamford resident, died May 10 at Waveny Care Center. He was 90. 

Born July 24, 1921, he was the son of John and Antoinette Trancone Loffredo. Loffredo was a member of the Stamford Pigeon Club for more than 70 years and won numerous awards for racing homing pigeons. He was a pigeoneer in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany with the 281st Signal Core during World War II.

He is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Wolff, of Stamford; two sons, John T. (Laure) Loffredo, Jr., of East Haven, Conn., and Joseph M. Loffredo, of Warwick, R.I.; three brothers, Tony Loffredo, of Stamford, Phil Loffredo, of Stamford and Ralph Loffredo, of Florida; two sisters, Sue Biagini, of Stamford and Millie Chiravolo, of Stratford; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by his wife, Angelina M. Loffredo; and two brothers, Samuel and Carmen Loffredo.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Clements Church in Stamford. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford. Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Lacerenza Funeral Home in Stamford.
