The Transforming Conflict InterFaith Conference is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 4 in Stamford and continuing Oct. 5 in Norwalk, according to a press release. The Friday introductory night session is scheduled at Temple Beth El in Stamford.
“We need to move beyond conflict resolution to transformation – and we can,” said Kate Heichler, the council’s executive director, in a press release. “In an increasingly polarized and paralyzed climate, this event can equip community leaders to develop new approaches to conflict, and find in the roots of a divided situation the seeds for building community.”
The Interfaith Council is a "respected connector of congregations, nonprofits, government and business communities. It is a natural convener for this kind of event, partnering with Norwalk Community College, Fairfield University, and local faith communities to foster peace-building in our communities, among people of many faith traditions. The tools and strategies presented are applicable to conflicts of all types, from personal to global," according to the release.
Ingrid Stellmacher, an international and interfaith conflict practitioner, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker and facilitator, according to the release. Stellmacher is a native of England and is the founder and director of LeMenach Foundation, according to the release.
The learning event begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at Norwalk Community College’s East Campus.
