Holiday Displays Light Up Children's Eyes

When former Stamford PTO Council co-President Regan Allan and her husband, Jim Fleischer, told The Daily Stamford they were taking their four kids out to see some of the holiday lights in town, we just had to tag along.

Brian, Patrick, Kevin, and Maggie Fleischer were our excited tour guides to some of the fanciest holiday lighting displays we’ve ever seen.

“Do you think the reindeer get confused seeing all these lights in Stamford?” asked 9-year-old Stark student Patrick. “I think Stamford’s got the best lights anywhere.”

One of the first stops we made was the home of Frank and Vivian Lucherini at Holbrooke and Stillwater, where the lights were almost blinding, but with amazing detail in the faces and scenes.

Six-year-old Kevin, also a student at Stark Elementary commented, “I wish people would keep the lights up all year long.”

At the home of Karen Cingari on Samford Lane, the amazing display stretched all around the big bend in the road to the side of the house. And it had another treat.

“There’s music, too,” 3-year-old Maggie exclaimed as the elves and reindeer came to life before her shining eyes. “I like dancing with the dancing Santa,” she said as she hopped around the bobbing figures on the lawn.

Twelve-year-old Brian, who attends Dolan Middle School, was a bit more analytical.

“Some of these people must be really good at technology and engineering if they can figure out how to synchronize the lights and music,” he pondered. “I bet their lighting bill is pretty steep.”

When Maggie started to fade and the cold began to take its toll, we all decided to head home for hot chocolate and a warm bed.
