Former Greenwich resident Titian Butash won a creative writing award and two arts awards at the Minn-Wi-Kota Regional Chapter Convention's ceremony at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minn.Butash received the top individual award in the creative writing, non-fiction category and the first place award for the short story, a memoir of her life in Greenwich, titled Me and Mr. Jones.To say that I am grateful for the recognition is truly an understatement, Butash said. For I share the honor of this award with both my editor, Vennie White, and my English professor, Dr. Richard Campbell.Butash received top individual awards in the decorative arts category. The artist received the first place award in sculpture for the work Whimsy and Willow. She received the second place award in decorative arts for the work Blue Nest and Blackberry Pie Bird.The Minn-Wi-Kota Regional event includes participants from five states, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa. Butash, a writer and multimedia artist, is a member of the Zeta Eta Chapter of the national honors society Phi Theta Kappa. She is a former journalist and features writer for several publications in Fairfield County.
