Eugene Struzik, 97, Retired Stamford Police Lt.

STAMFORD, Conn. – Eugene V. Struzik, a lifelong resident of Stamford, died Saturday, March 31, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was 97. 

Struzik was a retired lieutenant with the Stamford Police Department. 

He was born in Stamford on Jan. 17, 1915, to William and Amilia Struzik. During World War II, Struzik served in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. A skilled bomb disposal specialist and marksman, he still holds several military competition shooting records. 

Upon discharge, Struzik joined the Stamford Police Department where he worked for many years before he retired. 

Struzik was predeceased by his wife, Anne; his son, Eugene Jr., his daughter, Carol, his brother, Emil, and his sister, Adele Kulka. He is survived by six grandsons, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous others whose lives he touched throughout 97 years. 

The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Cecilia Parish in Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Darien.
