STAMFORD, Conn. Athletes wont be alone this Sunday at Hope in Motions Walk, Run or Ride event in Stamford as 20 cancer survivors will be honored in celebration of the Bennett Cancer Centers 20th Anniversary.
The tribute to the survivors will take place between the run and walk and will include a group picture and video interviews with the survivors which will be played on a huge screen located in Columbus Park.
Runners and walkers will partake in a 3.1 mile trek around downtown Stamford, and bicycle riders can opt for their choice of a 10-,20-, and 50-mile course. The 50- and 20- mile routes will have frequent stops with drinks and snacks, the release said. All of the routes will begin and end at Columbus Park, and can be found on-line at the Walk, Run & Rides website, the release said.
The registration fee for the run and walk is $35, and $100 for the ride, and all riders that raise over $250 will receive a riding jersey, the release said. All of the proceeds will go to supporting the Bennett Cancer Centers families and patients.
Hope in Motion, the year-long fundraising initiative benefitting the cancer center, has once again set its fundraising goal at $1 million, which it reached for the first time last year, the release said. According to the Walk, Run, & Ride website over $630,000 has already been raised.
Runners and riders can pick up their t-shirts, and racing bibs on Saturday, June 2 from 12 to 4 p.m. in Columbus Park in Stamford at a pre-registration event. Donations will also be collected at this time.
