Big Name Acts Coming to Downtown Stamford

Each summer thousands cram Columbus Park in downtown Stamford every Thursday night for the Alive @ Five concert series, and this year’s series promises to be one of the best ever. Downtown Stamford Special Services District announced this year’s headline acts.

The June 23 kickoff concert features alternative rock group Third Eye Blind, one of the hottest bands in the country. Rapper M.C. Hammer takes to the stage July 7, and it concludes Aug. 4 with the B-52s. The other acts include Lee DeWyze on June 30, Dennis DeYoung: the Music of Styxx on July 14 and Veritcal Horizon on July 21. The July 28 concert headliner is still in the works. Admission is $10 for people 12 and over, kids 12 and younger are free. Anyone under 21 years old must arrive before 7 p.m. Photo identification is required for people over 21, according to Downtown Stamford. Coolers, alcohol, glass containers, dogs, pets, video cameras or tape recorders are not allowed. Backpacks and large bags are subject to police search. Opening acts hit the stage at 5 p.m.
