Art Gallery Says 'Thank You, Stamford!'

STAMFORD, Conn. — The next show at the Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery will be titled “Thank You, Stamford!” to express the gallery's gratitude to the city. It will feature Stamford artists not represented by the gallery.

"Stamford has a burgeoning art community, with many talented and innovative individuals pursuing their art with reckless abandon, and we wanted to give them a platform to express that talent,” said Fernando Luis Alvarez, artist and owner of the gallery.

The gallery had an open call to all Stamford artists to submit works representing their city and its culture, a press release said. Submissions were received up to July 11.

This is not the first community event held at the Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery. The gallery has also partnered with charities, such as the Sprouting Spaces project, and it encourages the public to attend exhibits to experience art.

“Thank You, Stamford!” opens Friday, July 29, and runs until Sept. 4 at the Bedford Street gallery. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on July 29.
