Stamford Jeweler Named Dancing 'Star' At Curtain Call Fundraiser

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford’s Nagi Osta became the latest People’s Choice Award Winner in the local “Dancing With The Stars” fundraiser for Curtain Call.

Osta, owner of Nagi Jewelers, received the award for raising the most money for the event, which ultimately brought in $135,000 for the theater company, a statement said. He also cut an impressive figure when dancing with partner Rosa Fanelli of Arthur Murray Grande Ballroom of Greenwich.

Other winners included Nicole Faugno, from Noble Salon, who was the Judges Choice Award for women with partner David Thomas Moore of Dance With Me, and Dr. Nolan Zeide of Bull's Head Pet Hospital, who was the Judges Choice Award for men with partner Meredith Landphair of Dance With Me. Nancy Freedman, producer of the All School Musical, with partner Moises Guerrero of Arthur Murray Grande Ballroom of Greenwich, won the Friendraiser Award.

“It's a very scary time for all nonprofit organizations. This dancing event will certainly help us close our books in the black for this fiscal year," Lou Ursone, executive director of Curtain Call, said in the statement.

About 800 people came out to watch the 11 local celebrity dancers and their professional partners Saturday night at the Palace Theatre.
