The seventh annual Navigators Stamford KIC IT Triathlon returns on Sunday, June 22. The Olympic-distance race features a 0.9-mile swim at Cummings Beach in Long Island Sound, a 24.8-mile bike ride through the backcountry of North Stamford, and a final 6.2-mile run back through Stamford’s business district, ending at Mill River Park.

The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Kids Triathlon takes place the day before, on June 21, and features events designed with appropriate distances for three different age groups of children, from 6 to 13 years old.

The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Triathlon will be offering unique opportunities to athletes who choose to fundraise, including race day valet parking, a personal assistant to help with bike and gear, discounts and freebies from training facilities and physical therapy studios, and more. Athletes are encouraged to register early as spots are limited; both races sold out last year.

The Navigators Stamford KIC IT Triathlon was created in 2008 to support the services offered by Greenwich-based Kids in Crisis. This year it has gained a title sponsor, The Navigators Group Inc., an international specialty insurance holding company, located just blocks from the triathlon’s finish line in downtown Stamford. Both the Stamford KIC IT Triathlon and the Stamford KIC IT Kids Triathlon raise awareness and funds for Kids in Crisis, a free emergency shelter and 24-hour crisis counseling center for Fairfield County children and families.

Since its introduction, the Navigators Stamford KIC IT Triathlon and Navigators Stamford KIC IT Kids Triathlon has grown into an outstanding athletic weekend attracting competitors from across the country, while maintaining a special focus on offering a fun family experience.
