Classic, traditional options, along with newfangled flavors, can be found in all corners of Fairfield County with a number of versions served a variety of ways (hello whipped cream, fudge, sprinkles and waffle cones).
You, however, picked five nominees for the best ice cream in the county, meaning now's the time to nail down the winner.

What Makes Their Ice Cream Special: 'We have the variety that most places don't have," said Jay Ragusa, president of Gofer Ice Cream. "Some places you go they just have soft ice cream and some places just have hard ice cream. We have both."
Gofer also offers alternatives for those watching their waistlines with "Gofer Lite," a skim-milk-based ice cream that the company has offered since 2004. It has since become more popular as people look for healthy alternatives.
