Come to Port Chester and Taste the World's Foods

Next month's Taste of Port Chester offers residents and visitors alike not only local flavors but also tasty treats from all over the globe. Among the many restaurants putting out the groaning board is Copacabana, a Brazilian steakhouse at 29 North Main Street,  just one of more than 20 participating restaurants that will open their doors to culinary adventurers June 5th.

"It's an opportunity for our restaurant and other restaurants to show our culinary diversity," said Anderson Moretti, manager of Copacabana, which opened four years ago. Participants who come into the restaurant will be able to sample cheese breads, croquettes, and speciality salads. "It's going to be a fun day," he said.

The delectable food fest will benefit the Port Chester's diverse public schools.

Kathleen Alexander, a Port Chester resident strolling down aptly named North Main Street, said that she thinks the event is a good idea. "It will be something great," she said. "We need more community activities in Port Chester."

Most of the restaurants are clustered on or around North South Main streets and anyone wanting to sample are fare can do so on foot. The streets are well-lit and there is expected to be a carnival-like feeling in the air.
