What's Happening In Stamford This Weekend

STAMFORD, Conn. — A search for reptiles and amphibians, a urban scavenger hunt and a charity motorcycle ride are just a few of the events going on in Stamford this weekend. For more events in the area, visit our Events Section.

Friday, Sept. 21

Outdoor Adventures: 6 p.m. Look for and learn about spotted salamanders, garter snakes and other reptiles and amphibians. The program is recommended for kids 6 and up, and is $5 for members and $8 for nonmembers. Call 203-977-652 to register. Stamford Museum & Nature Center, 39 Scofieldtown Road.

The Bamboo Benefit: 6:30 p.m. Take part in a night of live music, an auction and more while supporting the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens. For ticket and other information, visit the arboretum’s website at www.bartlettarboretum.org. The event will be held at Nestle Waters, 900 Long Ridge Road.

Saturday, Sept. 22

Egyptian Festival: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. St. Peter & St. Andrew Coptic Orthodox Church hosts the first annual Egyptian Festival on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, visit its website. St. Peter & St. Andrew Coptic Orthodox Church, 132 Glenbrook Road.

Stamford Urban Scavenger Hunt: 11:30 a.m. Take part in Stamford’s first ever Urban Scavenger Hunt through downtown Stamford. Registration can be done online. The event starts and ends at Black Bear Saloon, 261 Main St. 

Celebrate the Lighting of the Stamford Transportation Center: 6:30 p.m. Get the first glimpse of the lit up transportation center. Hors d'oeuvres and cocktails will be served before the 8 p.m. lighting. The cost to attend is $100 per person. Morton’s Steak House, 377 N. State St.

Sunday, Sept. 23

Thunder On The Sound: Ride at 8:30, barbecue at 11 a.m. Join Mayor Michael Pavia and others on a motorcycle trip through the city. Not a motorcycle rider, then head to the Ponus for a barbecue and live music. Admission is $30 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under, and all proceeds will go to the Brian Bill Memorial Fund. Riders will meet at the commuter parking lot by Exit 35 on the Merritt Parkway and ride to the Ponus Yacht Club, 41 Bateman Way.

East Side International Food Festival: Noon to 3 p.m. The East Side Partnership will host an International Food Festival. The cost to attend is $5. Domus, 83 Lockwood Ave.
