What To Do In Stamford This Week

STAMFORD, Conn. — Looking for something to do the first week of 2013? Here are some events and government meetings going on in Stamford. To see what else is going on, check out our Events Section.

Dec. 31 New Year’s Eve Sing Along: 11:15 a.m. Before heading to parties and events Monday night, take the kids to a sing-along event at the Ferguson Library downtown. The program is recommended for kids 5 and under. Jan. 1 Drop-In Activities: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Chelsea Piers Connecticut, 1 Blachley Road, will be offering visitors opportunities to try out several different aspects of the facility. Check out the schedule here. Jan. 2 Board of Finance: 5:30 p.m. The education committee of the finance board will meet with representatives of the school district. The meeting will take place on the fourth floor of the Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd.

Board of Representatives: 7 p.m. The water supply committee of the board will discuss extending the time period of the city testing private wells for contaminates. The meeting will take place on the fourth floor of the Stamford Government Center. Jan. 3 Thursday Night at the Movies: 6 p.m. The Ferguson Library downtown will be showing “Sleepwalk With Me.” The film is rated PG-13 and is 90 minutes long. The movie is free to attend. Jan. 4 High School Basketball: 5:15 p.m., 5:45 p.m., 7 p.m. Trinity Catholic and Stamford High School’s girls and boys basketball teams will be playing Friday night. Stamford’s girls team will visit Brien McMahon at 5:15 p.m., with the boys hosting Brien McMahon at 7 p.m., and Trinity’s girls will host Staples at 5:45 p.m. and the boys will head to Westport to play Staples at 7 p.m.
