The second annual “Kickboxing for a Cause” event will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday at The Dojo Westport, 772 Post Road.
Participants will receive teal hand wraps to wear in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month as they learn the discipline of kickboxing. All of the proceeds will be donated to the center. The suggested minimum donation is $35. To ensure a spot, register in advance by calling 203-557-8815 or e-mail to thedojoCT@gmail.com.
The event was organized by Sensei Sarah Malhotra, with the support of Manny Esmeraldo, owner of The Dojo Westport.
“The center is such a great organization that offers so many resources and support to Lower Fairfield County." Malhotra said. "I am so happy to be able to hold this event at The Dojo Westport. "
Joyride Studio will have a "Charity Ride For the Center," from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sunday at 25 Old Kings Highway North, Darien. Participants will sweat and groove to the music in a fusion of cycling and dance. All proceeds will be donated to the center. The suggested minimum donation is $40. To register, go to http://www.joyridestudio.com/darien/events.
The JoyRide Cycling Studio event was organized by Cora Delibertis, who said: “Three years ago I stepped into the center not knowing my life was about to be saved. They not only gave me the resources to heal from childhood sexual assault but they helped me find my voice. Now, as a survivor, advocate and volunteer for the center I have made it my mission to share my story and bring awareness to this issue."
To mark the end of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, join the center for a gala event, “The Year of the Survivor,” from 7-11 p.m. Friday, April 29 at The Waters Edge at Giovanni’s, Darien. Tickets are $150; call the center to register.
