Vereen will grace the Palace Stage as the entertainment for the evening with his one man show, Steppin’ Out with Ben Vereen.

The Palace Theatre is a premier venue that brings incredible talent from all over the globe to Fairfield County. Keeping this historical facility running along with everything it has to offer, such as its magnificent entertainment and educational programs, is a passion for gala co-chairs me and Lori Mercede, who are the gala co-chairs.

A portion of the proceeds from this fundraising event will support the Palace Theatre's Arts Education Program, which was developed for thousands of area youth ages 4-18, many of whom are from our area’s underserved population. These programs provide students the opportunity to creatively express themselves through the music, dance, drama and playwriting. They walk away having learned life skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, focus and perseverance all while building confidence in themselves.

The 2016 Arts Ovation Award Honoree is RFR Realty LLC and the star at RFR is Margaret Carlson, who recently joined the Board of Directors at The Palace Theatre. RFR is a generous contributor to both The Stamford Center for the Arts and the Stamford Boys & Girls Club. Arts and education are a major focus of RFR’s community-directed philanthropy. Their donation to the Stamford Center for the Arts will be directed to the organization’s Summer Arts Program for children.

Also, in its seventh year, The Palace Theatre will award the newly renamed Ernie DiMattia Emerging Young Artist Scholarships to four local high school students for their writing of an original 15 minute, one act play.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a ‘Magic to Do’ themed VIP cocktail party held on the second floor of the theater with amazing entertainment and an array of fine foods catered by Marcia Selden Catering & Event Planning. Performers from the Thomas/Ortiz Dance Company have donated their talent not only for the VIP event but they will also be performing a beautiful piece on the main stage prior to Ben Vereen’s show. VIP tickets are limited, so be sure to get yours today!

Last year, The Palace’s gala raised more than $340,000 and was attended by more than 400 guests from all around Fairfield County and New York. Sponsorships are available by contacting Lisa Colangelo at 203-517-3426 or lcolangelo@palacestamford.org. Show only tickets start at $35 and are available at PalaceStamford.org or by calling the box office at 203-325-4466.
