Stamford's Avon Theatre Presents Film Series With Sacred Heart University

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Avon Theatre and Sacred Heart University have joined forces to present the Film and Television Masters program's Talk Back Series with film screenings in May and June.

The screenings are free to the public. A rundown of film screenings is below.

"Pat Garret and Billy The Kid" will be screened on Wednesday, May 6, and will include a post-film Q&A with Professor Damon Maulucci. A former friend betrays a legendary outlaw in Sam Peckinpah's final Western. Holed up in Fort Sumner with his gang between cattle rustlings, Billy the Kid (Kris Kristofferson) ignores the advice of comrade-turned-lawman Pat Garrett (James Coburn) to escape to Mexico, and he winds up in jail in Lincoln, New Mexico. The film is 106 minutes and it is rated R.

"Masked and Anonymous" will be screened on Wednesday, May 20, with a post-film Q&A with Professor Damon Maulucci. Set somewhere, sometime in an unnamed country, torn by civil war with unclear battle lines, impresario Uncle Sweetheart is scheming to find a headliner for a benefit concert. The film is rated PG-13 and its 112 minutes.

"Harold and Maude" will be screened on Wednesday, June 3, with a post-film Q&A with Professor Justin Liberman. This cult classic pairs Bud Cort as a dead-pan disillusioned 20-year-old, obsessed with suicidal and a loveable Ruth Gordon as a fun-loving 80-year-old eccentric. The film is rated PG and it is 91 minutes.

"Being There" will be screened on Wednesday, June 17, and includes a post-film Q&A with Professor Justin Liberman. In this provocative comic fable, Peter Sellers is brilliant as a slow-witted, childlike gardener who becomes homeless when his employer dies. The film is rated PG and it is 130 minutes.
