Ursone, who now lives in San Antonio, served in the U.S. Army for 33 years. His service in combat included Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. From 1990 to 1991, Ursone, then a lieutenant colonel, served as commander of the 47th Medical Logistics Battalion. He successfully deployed and led his soldiers in supporting the war effort and the entire U.S. Army Central Command Theater of Operations with the delivery and replenishment of needed medications and medical supplies.

Some of his other positions include serving as commander of the European Regional Medical Command/Command Surgeon, United States Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany, and, his final role as assistant surgeon general for Force Projection/Chief, Medical Service Corps, Office of the Surgeon General, United States Army, Washington, D.C.

He has been part of the Curtain Call volunteer team bringing free outdoor Shakespeare to his hometown.

"To say I'm incredibly proud of my brother's military career is a gross understatement," said Lou Ursone, Curtain Call executive director. "I may have played a soldier on TV, but he's been in battle and defended our country for over 30 years and that's an amazing gift to all of us."

Ursone is the father of five and grandfather of seven. He has been married to wife Ranae, also a Stamford native, for 44 years.
